Event - November 4, 2019

Association of National Advertisers / Brand Activation Association 41st Annual Marketing Law Conference

Davis+Gilbert is a proud Platinum Sponsor of the ANA/BAA 41st Annual Marketing Law Conference “Get Smart: Legal Compliance,” to be held in San Diego on November 4 – 6, 2019.

Ronald R. Urbach, chairman of the firm and co-chair of the Advertising + Marketing Group, will give a presentation titled, “The Upside-Down World of Advertising & Marketing Law – Where the Past & Future Disrupt the Now.” Mr. Urbach will explore how we – as consumers, marketers, lawyers, and people – engage with and perceive “reality” in today’s volatile climate. In a world where virtual influencers are becoming the reality TV stars of tomorrow, smart technologies are evolving faster than ever, and fake followers and fake reviews pepper the landscape – what is the best way to move forward with integrity and authenticity? Mr. Urbach’s session will provide an exciting and insightful guide to navigating the social media, privacy and regulatory maze.

Allison Fitzpatrick, Advertising + Marketing partner, will moderate a session titled, “Hot Topics in Children’s Advertising and Privacy.” This session will provide best practices and practical tips for ensuring that one’s child-directed apps, products, and marketing campaigns are in compliance with CARU, COPPA, and other laws.

Aaron Taylor, Advertising + Marketing partner, will moderate a session titled, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood; Marketing Law Issues for Entertainment Companies.” This panel will focus on current issues impacting the entertainment industry, including such topics as influencer campaigns for films and television shows, merchandising and cross-promotional initiatives,  and in-story digital extensions.

Paavana Kumar, Advertising + Marketing associate, will lead a roundtable discussion titled “The Latest on Negative Option Marketing: Subscription Billing, Automatic Renewal and Free Trial Programs.” This roundtable discussion will address recent key updates to state laws as well as FTC enforcement actions regarding free trial, automatic renewal and negative option programs.

As a Platinum Sponsor of this BAA conference, Davis+Gilbert has arranged a discount for clients and friends. To take advantage of this promotional rate, please use the code “ORFP19” when registering online.
