Davis+Gilbert announced today that Helen Ogbara Reeves has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate + Transactions practice. Helen, who previously served as a partner at Gunderson Dettmer and Dentons, brings significant experience advising venture-backed and growth-stage companies and investors, as well as a breadth of M&A experience.
“Helen’s addition reflects the firm’s strategic investment in growing our venture capital service offerings and expanding the dimensions of our M&A practice,” said Curt Myers, chairman of Davis+Gilbert and co-chair of the firm’s Corporate + Transactions practice group. “She has a strong track record of guiding innovative, high-growth companies through every stage of the business lifecycle — from formation and early financing through M&A deals and other exits.” “Her deep understanding of the venture ecosystem and experience across a range of industries make her an invaluable resource for our clients, and her alignment with Davis+Gilbert’s values of innovation, client service and collegiality make her an ideal addition to our firm,” adds Brad Schwartzberg, co-chair of the firm’s Corporate + Transactions Practice Group.
In addition to her active work on financings and acquisitions, Helen regularly serves as outside general counsel to emerging and growth-stage companies, advising on corporate governance, employment, and other issues. Her sector experience includes health care, artificial intelligence, femtech, cannabis, digital media and e-commerce. At Davis+Gilbert, she will advise on M&A transactions and corporate governance issues across the firm while advancing the firm’s capabilities in venture capital transactions — an area of increasing focus for the practice.
“I’m excited to join Davis+Gilbert’s dynamic and highly regarded Corporate + Transactions team,” said Helen. “The firm’s collaborative culture and commitment to growth in the venture space perfectly match my practice and long-term goals. I’m also inspired by the caliber of the people — not just their intelligence, professionalism and drive, but their willingness to work synergistically for the good of the client. I believe the best work happens when surrounded by colleagues who support one another, and that’s exactly the kind of environment I found at Davis+Gilbert.”
Helen began her legal career at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and later held roles at Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz P.C. and Dentons, where she was elevated to partner. She earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she served as an editor of the Columbia Law Review, and her A.B. in Government from Harvard College.
