Numerous states have enacted their own comprehensive data privacy laws the California Consumer Privacy Act in 2018. Keeping up with the differences between these laws can be a challenging task for any business or privacy professional. Maryland’s new privacy law, The Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA), which goes into effect on October 1, 2025, is among the strictest in the United States.
