Session Overview
The Privacy+Security Forum Spring Academy will bring together seasoned thought leaders in the areas of privacy and security law in a series of deep-dive sessions delivering hands-on activities and practical takeaways for attendees from May 8 -10 at George Washington University. As part of the conference, Gary Kibel (Partner, Privacy + Data Security) will participate in a learning session on May 9 concerning the “Intersection of Marketing and Sensitive Data.” Joined by Dan Frechtling (CEO, Boltive) and Gicel Tomimbang (Associate, Squire Patton Boggs), Gary will discuss compliance gaps, best practices and technologies for governing sensitive data, especially related to health.
Key discussion points will include:
- What qualifies as sensitive data
- Proliferation of state laws and federal guidance for companies collecting, transmitting, and/or processing sensitive data
- Compliance issues attendant to activities constituting a sell/share of data with third parties via websites, ads and apps
- Best practices, agreements and technologies for controlling sensitive data
