On May 27, Davis+Gilbert Privacy + Data Security partner Gary Kibel will speak during a webinar titled “Children’s Data – a Global Perspective” hosted by Lewis Silkin LLP.
Today’s children are growing up in the digital age, they love screen time and in recent months, due to the pandemic, access to online services and devices has been necessary for not only leisure but also for education. As children are spending ever more time online, protecting children’s data and privacy reflects what the ICO refers to as “the global direction of travel” in this area.
Gary Kibel, Davis+Gilbert LLP and Victor Timon, Lewis Silkin Ireland, along with Ali Vaziri, Lewis Silkin UK, will share their experiences with protecting children’s data in different jurisdictions. Gary will give us a US perspective and share what UK and EU clients can learn from the American experience with the FTC’s Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA) and Victor will give an Irish perspective on how the ICO’s Children’s Code differs from the IDPC’s Fundamental for a Child Oriented Approach to Data Processing.
