Overview
Gia Wakil is a problem-solver. Her pragmatic solutions address challenges that arise in advertising, intellectual property (IP) and contractual matters. She draws on prior experience handling IP transactions and IP disputes to help major brands, agencies and start-ups meet their business goals.
Working as a key member of the team, Gia’s thorough research provides critical insight into the issues at hand. She routinely handles advertising and compliance matters involving state and federal law, from 50-state ad law surveys to intricate aspects of the Copyright Act. Gia provides advice on trademark, copyright and right of publicity issues, and frequently assists in drafting advertising and IP-related agreements. Teams rely on her good judgment and practical advice.
Gia has experience working with clients in entertainment, sports, publishing, retail and various technology industries, including gaming and software. Her strong listening skills enable her to quickly grasp and articulate client objectives and their industry-specific concerns.
Before she joined Davis+Gilbert, Gia was an associate in Baker McKenzie’s Intellectual Property & Technology group. Before law school, she worked as a paralegal in the New York and Brussels offices of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
