Michael C. Lasky, Partner/Chair of the Public Relations Law Practice Group and Co-Chair of the Litigation Practice Group, and Brad J. Schwartzberg, Partner/Co-Chair of the Corporate + Transactions Practice Group at Davis+Gilbert LLP, will speak at a session titled “M&A as a Growth Strategy for PR Firms” during the ICCO Global Summit to be held in Helsinki, Finland on October 5-6. The ICCO Global Summit brings together senior PR and communications professionals from around the world.
Session Overview
Darwin called it survival of the fittest. Today’s strong public relations firms are strategically focused and are not just surviving; they are thriving. Their strength is attributable to both organic growth as well as strategic acquisitions of not only other PR firms but a variety of other types of marketing communications firms that strengthen their offerings and expand their client relationships. Not so long ago, PR firms considered M&A solely in the context of an exit opportunity, but today’s industry leaders are finding tremendous success by moving away from that line of thinking and exploring how acquisitions can take their business, revenue and reputation to the next level: a 1+1=3 strategy.
This session will discuss the forces driving PR firms to develop acquisition strategies, as well as the mechanics of a successful acquisition. Special attention will be given to mergers and strategic alliances, as many firms based outside of the United States seek to expand into the lucrative U.S. market.
Learning Objectives:
- Common deal structures for mergers and acquisitions
- Valuation of firms
- How to use an M&A strategy to expand service offerings and client relationships
