Session Overview
This year has already brought significant legal developments and HR compliance challenges for companies under both federal and New York State law. Consequences to employers for noncompliance with new requirements can be costly and include private lawsuits and administrative enforcement. In this in-person seminar, we will review several legal developments and discuss proactive steps that companies can take now to mitigate risk.
Topics to be covered include:
- Laws and policies surrounding the use of AI in hiring and during the employment relationship
- Federal court developments impacting ADA accommodations
- Significant NLRB decisions on employee confidentiality and non-disparagement agreements and disciplinary action for employee misconduct
- Changes in New York State law, including developments related to harassment prevention and pay transparency
- Benefits law changes, including obligations related to COBRA rights and benefit elections triggered by the end of the COVID-19 emergency period
- Legislation increasing the level of fiduciary obligations under health and welfare plans and practical steps for employers to comply
