We are pleased to share that Davis+Gilbert was awarded top rankings in the 2018 edition of Chambers USA, receiving both national and state-level rankings in six categories and recognition for 12 of the firm’s attorneys.
Advertising
For the 13th consecutive year, Davis+Gilbert was named a Band 1 law firm in the nationwide category of Advertising: Transactional & Regulatory. Chambers singled out the firm’s “market-leading” practice and its “expertise” in social media, artificial intelligence, and other new technologies for an “impressive array” of brands and media platforms. Clients lauded the group as “experts in representing advertising agencies.”

Media & Entertainment
For the second year in a row, Davis+Gilbert was recognized as a “Noted Firm” in the Media & Entertainment: Film, Music, Television & Theater – New York category. In addition, Intellectual Property + Media Partner James L. Johnston was again ranked individually (Band 3).
Intellectual Property
The firm was ranked as a Band 3 law firm in the Intellectual Property: Trademark, Copyright & Trade Secrets category for New York. The group, known for “expertly [handling] the full range of trademark, copyright, and false advertising matters” and garner praise from “high-profile clients in television, film and publishing” for its “substantial experience” on litigation, enforcement actions, and strategic counseling. In addition to Jeffrey C. Katz (Band 3) and Marc J. Rachman (Band 3) receiving individual rankings, Ashima A. Dayal was noted as a “Recognised Practitioner.”
Labor + Employment
Davis+Gilbert was ranked as a Band 4 law firm in the Labor & Employment – New York category. Chambers praised the “solid labor and employment team” that “impresses in connection with both employment law and labor law matters.” The group was described as “experienced with navigating sensitive discrimination, harassment, wage and hour and restrictive covenant litigation” in addition to providing legal counsel on a wide range of day-to-day employment matters. Gregg A. Gilman (Band 4) was again individually recognized as a “great negotiator” and for his “very deep knowledge base.” In addition, Daniel A. Feinstein was again distinguished as a “Recognized Practitioner.”
Real Estate
The firm’s Real Estate practice group was recognized for the 12th consecutive year, earning a Band 4 ranking in the New York category of Real Estate: Mainly Dirt. The publication commended the group’s “extensive experience” in negotiating and renegotiating leases for retail and office space. Clients noted that “Davis+Gilbert will put service first” and “are extremely responsive.” In addition to the firm recognition, partner Gerald R. Uram was also ranked (Band 3), with clients attesting: “You sleep better knowing that he’s working on your matters.”
Retail
This year, Davis+Gilbert moved up to Band 2 in the Nationwide Retail category and Chambers acknowledged attorneys Robert Karin and Joseph Lewczak as co-chairs of the firm’s Retail practice. The guide highlighted the group’s work advising on retail leasing and employment law matters in the apparel and fast food industries, “expertise in advertising and IP,” and for being “one of the go-to firms for entertainment within retail.” Clients echoed the sentiments, noting the firm has “an incredibly good reputation” and is a “go-to firm in advertising law, copyright, marketing and social media issues.”
