Laws protecting children from exploitation in the influencer industry are being enacted to ensure kids receive a share of the profits from brand deals.

Allison draws immediate attention to state laws in Illinois and Minnesota that allow children to sue parents who didn’t save money for them.
Many other states have also introduced laws protecting child influencers, tracking with federal children protection bills that have received bipartisan support. Allison comments on the influx of state laws, “As these laws come into effect, we will see if they have teeth and if parents have been following them. Are parents adhering to the record keeping and the trust provisions? Were they just ignoring them?”
