Sharon Cohen is an associate in the Labor & Employment Practice Group of Davis & Gilbert. Ms. Cohen regularly counsels and actively litigates in all aspects of employment law for nationwide clients in a variety of industries, including media, advertising and marketing, hospitality, financial services and health care. She advises on a wide variety of workplace issues, including internal investigations, wage and hour compliance, family and medical leave, disability accommodations, as well as hiring, performance management, and terminations.

Ms. Cohen has extensive experience in conducting internal investigations of high-profile and sensitive harassment and discrimination claims. In addition, she has significant expertise in advising on nationwide paid sick and family leave laws, in order to help clients stay compliant while also competitive from an employee wellness and retention standpoint. Numerous nationwide clients have specifically engaged her to conduct seminars for their HR and benefits representatives on anti-harassment, manager best practices trainings, and nationwide paid family and sick leave laws.

Ms. Cohen has a broad range of experience representing her clients in individual employment cases to multi-plaintiff and class action litigation in state and federal court, as well as administrative charges before federal and local state agencies (including the EEOC, NLRB, New York State Division of Human Rights, and New York City Commission on Human Rights). In many of these proceedings, she has obtained dismissals or achieved reasonable settlements in an efficient manner for her clients.

Prior to joining Davis & Gilbert, Ms. Cohen was an associate at Jones Day, and served as a Foreign Law Clerk to Justice Neal Hendel on the Supreme Court of Israel.

REPRESENTATIVE ENGAGEMENTS

  • Obtained complete victory on behalf of publicly-traded, multinational conglomerate in U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruling affirming dismissal of case alleging FLSA, Title VII, ADEA, and Section 1983 claims.
  • Achieved dismissal on behalf of several of the firm’s clients of numerous discrimination or harassment claims before the Southern District of New York and New York State Division of Human Rights.
