Gerry Uram, Davis+Gilbert Real Estate partner, will speak during three sessions at the Practising Law Institute’s Negotiating Commercial Leases Virtual Conference on February 24 – 25. Gerry’s sessions are as follows:
- “COVID-19-Health and Lease Related regulations” will discuss the duty and/or ability of a landlord to close a building (effect of Governmental orders on closings or reduced operations), the duty of a landlord to safely operate and clean a building (follow CDC/health guidelines), and access to tenant spaces and safe capacity of elevators and volume of traffic (HVAC upgrades), among many other topics.
- “COVID-19 Landlord Defenses and Enforcement Actions – Tenant demands, rent defaults/terminations and attacks on Leases” will discuss government action (state statutes/executive orders), lease termination, rent abatement and deferral demands as well as lease extensions and rent recovery from concessions and much more.
- “Commercial Leases: Fundamentals of Structuring for Buildability and Financing” will cover topics such as ground leases and good guy guaranties, “the gap” period obligations and work related provisions, among other topics.
