Areas of Focus
“My goal in every case is to win for my client. I strive to out-lawyer my adversary by paying intense attention to the facts and by creatively focusing on and advancing the issues on which my client has the evidentiary advantage.”
Overview
Paul Corcoran is an exceptionally experienced trial lawyer who represents advertising, marketing and media companies, banks, law firms and individuals in high-stakes commercial litigation. He has spent more than 40 years as a front-line trial and appellate prosecutor, defense attorney, and commercial litigator in federal and state courts across the United States.
Each time Paul takes on a new case, he comes to win. He represents defendants and plaintiffs in contract disputes, fraud and fiduciary duty claims, class actions, partnership and real-estate related litigation, RICO suits, securities and antitrust matters, and federal criminal cases. When reputations or businesses are at stake, his deep experience lets him move quickly and control the playing field. Paul’s tireless pursuit of all available evidence and his deep analysis of the facts allow him to pinpoint the unique issues most likely to achieve a favorable outcome. In many instances, clients measure his success by the millions of dollars they save in achieving swift resolutions or the no-nonsense reputations they gain as fierce opponents.
When clients hire Paul, they get Paul. He serves as lead counsel in every matter or case he handles, regardless of size or complexity. Working collaboratively with his clients, he guides every strategic and tactical decision impacting a case. Few lawyers can say they’ve personally handled thousands of matters. Paul has tried more than 50 cases to verdict in federal and state courts throughout the United States and has drafted and argued at least 80 appeals. The definition of a “lawyers’ lawyer,” he frequently represents other lawyers who trust his judicial insight and creative instincts.
Before joining Davis+Gilbert, Paul gained a deep understanding of the judicial process and how courts respond to issues and arguments while working as a trial and appellate lawyer in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
