Michael C. Lasky, Partner/Chair of the Public Relations Law Practice Group and Co-Chair of the Litigation Practice Group at Davis+Gilbert will speak at a session titled “How Social Media is Affecting PR and Marketing” during the Worldcom Americas Conference to be held in Minneapolis on October 20.
Session Overview
This jam-packed session will offer an overview of current PR trends, with a focus on legal issues to be considered by PR professionals when engaging in social media marketing campaigns. Special attention will be given to influencer marketing, paid endorsements, user-generated content, efforts to blend sponsored content with editorial content and campaigns that reference either celebrities or third-party brands. Mr. Lasky will also discuss important intellectual property issues related to the use of social media, including trademark, copyright and rights of privacy and publicity. Finally, this session will explore guidance from the Federal Trade Commission, including its Endorsement and Testimonial Guides and its more recent Native Advertising Guide.
