"Digital Advertising Self-Regulation: A Comparison of Approaches"

October 24-26, 2016

Gary A. Kibel, Davis & Gilbert Digital Media, Technology & Privacy partner, will speak during a session titled “Digital Advertising Self-Regulation: A Comparison of Approaches” at the 2016Privacy + Security Forum in Washington, D.C. on October 24-26.

Session Overview
Mr. Kibel and his co-panelists Leigh Freund, president & chief executive officer of the Network Advertising Initiative, and Rachel Glasser, partner, director of privacy and partner activation of GroupM, will discuss how various self-regulatory and trade associations handle emerging and evolving technologies in the ad tech space. New technologies such as addressable TV or wearables are revolutionizing the way consumers interact with products, and significantly changing, and expanding, data collected through their use. The session will bring together trade associations and self-regulatory organizations in the digital advertising space to explain and contrast their differing approaches to emerging technology. They will also explain how the trade associations collaborate on tackling the hottest issues in privacy and compliance, with a focus on how technical standards can be announced by one organization but be adopted in the code of conduct for another, or how the associations are joining forces to address challenges to the industry such as ad blocking.
