Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Names Davis & Gilbert Partner Michael C. Lasky to Board of Directors

New York, October 31, 2011 - Davis & Gilbert is pleased to announce that Michael C. Lasky, partner and co-chair of the firm's Litigation Practice Group and chair of the firm's Public Relations Law Practice Group, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA).

"It is a privilege to continue to support the work of VLA, which has been at the forefront of providing educational and legal services to the dynamic New York arts community for over 40 years," said Mr. Lasky.

Mr. Lasky has had a longstanding commitment to pro bono work for non-profit arts and educational institutions.  He currently serves as a Trustee and Executive Committee member of The National Center for Learning Disabilities, the country's premier non-profit organization providing essential information, resources and advocacy for the 15 million Americans with learning disabilities.  He is also a member of the Board of Advisors of The Fund for BRIC Community Media, an arts organization in Brooklyn.  Mr. Lasky is also a court-appointed mediator in the United States District Court, and serves on the Dean's Advisory Council and the Alumni Board of Directors of Rutgers Law School in Newark.  In addition, Mr. Lasky is the Chair of Davis & Gilbert's Pro Bono Committee.
