Navigating the Legal & Regulatory Framework for Advertising to Children

Expert panelists will explore the challenging issues facing companies that advertise to children. There will be a sharp focus on mobile and online technologies and how they have changed the way companies market products, both in the US and abroad. A significant emphasis will be placed on the modifications to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Federal Trade Commission’s revisions to the COPPA Rule, including discussions on how companies are implementing new practices to comply with these changes in their online and mobile marketing.

Ms. Fitzpatrick and co-presenters Don McGowan, General Counsel, The Pokémon Company International, Inc.; Joe Sena, Associate Marketing Counsel, Campbell Soup Company; Katie Goldstein, Senior Staff Attorney, CARU will present during a session titled “It’s a Family Affair – Marketing to Multiple Demographics.” Panelists will discuss best practices for engaging with children, teens and adults alike. This panel will include discussions about social media, sweepstakes and promotions that may appeal across age groups.
