Davis & Gilbert will host a New York In-House Counsel program taking place at the firm’s office in New York, NY. Gary A. Kibel, Digital Media, Technology & Privacy Partner, will speak during a session titled “Big Data – The Risks and Rewards of Collecting and Exploiting Data.”

Session Overview
Data is now the lifeblood of every business. It is collected through various touch points with consumers, employees and third parties, and is stored, processed and used through various means. Each step in this process involves certain risks that should be analyzed, and to the extent possible, mitigated. This includes a proper analysis of the legal environment, preparing for a security incident and considering cyber risk insurance. The session will cover:

  • Hot legal issues regarding data collection and use
  • Ways to mitigate the risks inherent in the use of big data
  • The shifting landscape of available insurance coverage and cutting edge risk transfer strategies
