FTC’s New COPPA Rule: Two Years Later
April 8, 2015

Davis & Gilbert and the Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) and Online Interest-Based Advertising Accountability Program & Mobile Marketing Initiatives (Accountability Program), both administered by the Council of Better Business Bureaus, present their second in-depth seminar on the FTC’s changes to its COPPA Rule.

In 2013, the FTC made significant changes to COPPA, including expanding the definition of “personal information” to cover persistent identifiers, such as cookies and IP addresses. This seminar will focus on how new COPPA has changed the digital landscape and its impact on children's privacy. The seminar will also provide best practices for COPPA compliance and strategies for avoiding regulatory scrutiny.

This seminar will discuss:

  • How new COPPA changed the digital landscape over the last two years and its impact on online services directed to children
  • What you need to know about the Online Interest-Based Advertising Accountability Program and what it is doing to enforce COPPA
  • What you need to know about CARU and its Online Privacy Protection Guidelines
  • How the FTC’s recent actions against Yelp, Inc. and TinyCo indicate future COPPA enforcement
