American Conference Institute’s 25th National Advanced Forum on Advertising Law

Ronald R. Urbach, Davis & Gilbert Chairman and Advertising, Marketing & Promotions Co-Chair, will participate in a two-part session titled "Spotlight on Advertising Privacy."  During the first half of this session, Mr. Urbach will moderate a segment titled "Government Insights into Forthcoming Privacy Legislation." Some of the issues to be addressed during this segment include proposed federal legislation and the FTC's anticipated guidelines, as well as learning from states, including California and Massachusetts, that have been actively involved in consumer privacy protection. 

During the second part of this session, Mr. Urbach will speak on a panel titled "Minimizing the 'Creep Factor:' Balancing Consumer Privacy Concerns with a Company's Desire to Collect and Use Data."  He and his co-presenters will discuss:

  • Managing privacy compliance related issues when your organization is becoming more engaged in social media
  • How to ensure that website disclosures are up to date
  • Providing consumers with adequate notice and information in the event of a data breach
  • Comprehending the added danger of using super cookies when collecting consumer data
