January 26, 2010

Michael C. Lasky, Davis & Gilbert Public Relations Chair, will speak during the PRSA New York Breakfast Seminar titled, "Regulatory Scrutiny of Social Media: The Impact on PR Communicators in 2010 and Beyond."  The seminar will take place at the Gibbs & Soell Public Relations offices in New York City from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Mr. Lasky and his co-presenter will explore what heightened government scrutiny may mean for PR practitioners, marketers and media strategists as the demand for online news and information continues to grow.  Some of the recent industry developments that will be discussed are:

  • The revised FTC guidelines regarding endorsements and testimonials
  • How the role of the pharmaceutical and medical companies at the FDA hearings on online marketing in November will impact the way drug companies and PR firms communicate using Web-based techniques
  • The privacy challenges associated with the expanded use of technology and social networking sites, blogs and other online sites
