Elder Care: Your Parents Worried About You -- Now You Are Worrying About Them

Americans are living longer; health care and nursing home costs are rising; and government benefits may be on the decline. It is not unusual to hear of families spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide appropriate care for an elderly parent. Choices exist today that may affect your and your parents’ quality of life and financial well being in the future.

One of the growing concerns we hear from our friends and clients is, “What happens if my parents outlive their retirement funds and become ill or require long term care? Will I have to use my assets to provide them with the necessary care? Is there something they can do today to protect against this contingency? Are there government programs that provide assistance?”

Davis & Gilbert has brought together a select group of professionals to examine the choices one may have to make and the options available regarding elder care. This program will cover:

  • The Basics of Government Benefits: Medicare and Medicaid
  • “Medicaid Planning” – An Overview
  • Long-Term Care Insurance: Who Should Have It?
  • Housing Options for the Elderly
  • Living Wills, Health Care Proxies and Durable Powers of Attorney
