PRSA Counselors Academy 2009 Spring Conference

Michael C. Lasky, Davis & Gilbert Public Relations Chair, and Brad J. Schwartzberg, Davis & Gilbert Corporate Partner/Co-Chair, will both speak during the Public Relations School of America Counselors Academy 2009 Spring Conference at La Quinta Resort and Club, Palm Springs, California.

Mr. Lasky will speak at a session titled, "Negotiating the Best Agency Agreements With Your Clients." This session will take place on June 2, 2009 from 9:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Mr. Lasky will discuss how many agencies have old boilerplate contracts they rarely think much about.  These boilerplates usually don't reflect today's integrated service offerings and can sometimes backfire.  The use of old forms can cause the agency to take on inappropriate credit risks and be left with unpaid client invoices.

This session will include interactive case studies and give you the tools to negotiate a wisely crafted agency agreement that can be far more protective for the agency and create more fair and favorable compensation within the agency-client relationship.  You will learn:

  • Recent industry trends and current issues surrounding agency agreements
  • Tips you can use immediately to update your agency agreement
  • Win-win negotiation strategies

Mr. Schwartzberg will speak at a session titled, "Mergers & Acquisitions - Yes, an Exit Strategy but Also a Growth Opportunity."  This session will take place on June 2, 2009 from 10:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Mr. Schwartzberg will discuss how even if the concept of selling your firm may not be in your short-term plans, it is critically important to have a basic understanding of how public relations firms are bought and sold, how to properly prepare for sale, as well as how to effectively implement an acquisition strategy in order to capitalize on growth. 

Particularly in challenging economic times, a properly structured acquisition of a smaller public relations firm, will not only provide the acquiring public relations firm with a unique growth opportunity, but ultimately will also make it a more attractive acquisition candidate.  You will learn:

  • Mergers and acquisitions from both a buyer's and seller's perspective
  • Methodologies for valuing public relations firms
  • How to structure the perfect acquisition
