Employee Practices
Employment Litigation
We have extensive experience representing clients in cases involving Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination Employment Act, the Equal Pay Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, plus a variety of state statutes governing the employment relationship. We handle non-statutory claims, including wrongful termination, breach of contract, interference with contractual relations and libel and slander.
Recent representative matters include:
- We obtained a jury verdict in state court in Manhattan rejecting a gender discrimination claim brought by a former senior executive at a multi-national advertising agency.
- We obtained a jury verdict in Federal court in Chicago rejecting an age-discrimination claim brought by a former senior executive of a multi-national advertising agency.
- We successfully moved to dismiss a $20 million claim brought against a major commercial bank by two former employees, who had alleged that the bank breached oral employment agreements entitling them to future income from the business on which they had worked.
- We have successfully defended numerous companies in jury trials concerning claims of employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, fraud and defamation.
- The Firm has represented numerous clients on a broad range of ERISA litigation issues.
Several of the Firm's attorneys serve as court-appointed certified mediators or arbitrators, providing a valuable component to our Litigation service, as an increasing number of disputes are currently resolved outside of the judicial system.
