Qualified Plan Design and Administration
Most of our clients maintain qualified plans as their primary retirement vehicle. We are actively involved in nearly every aspect of qualified plans, including their design, establishment, qualification, administration, funding, investment and termination. We service all types of qualified plans, including profit sharing, 401(k), ESOP, pension, money purchase, and cash balance plans. For many of our large clients, we draft state-of-the-art plans and submit the plans to the Internal Revenue Service for favorable determinations as to their tax-qualified status. We also keep clients abreast of changes in the law and recommend cost-saving measures.
We provide daily counseling to our clients on administrative matters, including plan interpretation, plan operation, distributions, plan loans and qdros. Our experience has taught us the value of providing practical, business-sensitive advice. Such advice is particularly critical when correcting the errors that inevitably arise in administering a plan. We advise our clients of prudent correction methods that are both compliant with the law and reasonable from a financial perspective.
In some instances, it becomes necessary to deal with the governmental agencies that oversee the pension arena. We have contacts at the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation and can effectively manage through their bureaucracies. We have also handled numerous IRS, DOL and PBGC audits and compliance problems. |
